Template 1: The Simple Round fish

Your child will recognise the familiar simple round fish instantly. It’s everywhere- on television, in cartoon books, and in art illustrations. While it does not identify with a specific species, it is an excellent starter fish to get your child doodling, colouring, and filling it in with any crayon colour that catches their fancy.

Template 2: The Graceful Goldfish

Goldfish is the graceful buddy fish that is often found in family aquariums and commercial indoor aquariums. Your kids must have stumbled upon them on that school trip to the marine aquarium. and will already know that it comes in hues of orange, red and yellow. They sure can put a bright spin to any boring day when it’s raining outside and they are stuck indoors.

Template 3: The Chunky Codfish

The Cod is the fish at the heart of Britain’s beloved classic, fish and chips. It has nourished generations of families and makes a wonderful starting point for conversations about how seafood and a fish-rich diet can be part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Template 4: The Whiskery Carp fish

The Carp is a heavy bodied fish with small whiskers near the mouth. This can make that art around them even more innovative. You can use old shoe strings, satin laces or braided ropes to help your kids attach whiskers to their mouth once they are done colouring it. It teaches them a fundamental lesson that beautiful art can come out of recycled household items!

Template 5: The Zippy Snapper fish

The snapper is a popular game fish, often caught during recreational fishing trips. It comes in various shades of greyish red and pink, making it one of the more strikingly coloured fish in the sea. So, next time the children head out fishing with dad, ask them to keep a lookout for this snappy little friend-and then come home and colour one in!

Template 6: The Cheerful Clownfish

The clownfish is the rockstar of the reef and hardly needs any introduction. Children will instantly recognise it from Pixar’s Finding Nemo. And colouring it in strokes of orange, black, and white with your kids might just fill you with a wave of childhood memories and nostalgia too.

Template 7: The Elegant Angelfish

The angelfish, with its tall triangular body and sweeping fins, has a truly distinct aura about it. But don’t be too fooled by its elegance-  it is in fact a skilled ambush predator that feeds on smaller fishes. A good reminder to never judge a book by its cover-  or, in this case, a fish by its fins!

Template 8: The Chubby Pufferfish

The pufferfish is rather like your youngest child- overdramatic at the slightest hint of danger. When threatened, it fills itself with water or air and inflates to several times its normal size, which is why it is also popularly known as the blowfish. And yes, you guessed it- we are talking about Bloat, the loveable pufferfish from Pixar’s Finding Nemo!

Template 9: The Speedy Shark

From Lenny the loveable shark in Shark Tale to Bruce in Finding Nemo to the infectious nursery anthem Baby Shark-  sharks are everywhere in your child’s world. Getting them to fall in love with decorating this shark template will be an absolute walk in the park.

Template 10: The Rainbow Guppy fish

Guppies are another indoor aquarium favourite and are also known as the rainbow fish, thanks to the kaleidoscope of colours they display. They also lend their name to Bubble Guppie-  the popular Nick Jr. show where mer-kids go to school under the sea.

Template 11: The Wiggly Eel

Long, slithery, and mysterious – eels move through water like ribbons caught in a gentle current. If your child develops an interest in this template, it’s the perfect excuse to introduce them to The Little Mermaid movie as a part of movie night treat, where two sinister eels named Flotsam and Jetsam serve as the villainous Ursula’s most loyal henchmen. You can meanwhile plan that friends’ get-together night you have been pondering on for ages, and if you are more of the sing-till-you-drop kind, here are our Printable Karaoke Invitation Templates to get the party started.

Template 12: The Spotty koi fish

Koi are ornamental fish that come in striking colours of orange, white, black, and gold. In fact, they are considered a symbol of good luck in Japanese culture. For an extra special craft touch, try using tin foil or gold foil to decorate the distinctive spots and markings on this template and give your child’s artwork a truly dazzling finish.

Template 13: The Mysterious Catfish

The catfish gets its name from its prominent barbels, which look remarkably like a cat’s whiskers- a delightful little coincidence that children absolutely love. And yes, get the glue and string out of the art kit again- although this time they can be a little longer.

Template 14: The Pointy Swordfish

The swordfish is one of the fastest fish in the ocean, and it’s easy to see why-  its long, sharp bill and sleek, streamlined body make it one of the most dramatic and instantly recognisable creatures in the sea.

Template 15: The Swirly Seahorse

The seahorse is the only animal where the male carries and gives birth to the young. It is an instant attraction for kids because of its distinct fairy-tale appearance. And that is why this last template will keep your child hooked until the last crayon stroke.
